asked what i wanted for my birthday, my wish was a weekend away from it all, chores & cooking (3 people & 3 different daily diets). we left home to dinard on saturday afternoon, spent the night there and took the ferry for the day to the channel island of jersey on sunday. all this under a perfect blue sky and so much sunshine we started tanning.
i thought she would use this little "navy" dress -- this striped jersey fabric is a traditional one here in brittany, land of sailors -- on her swimsuit to go to the beach, but she seems to have found another use for it.
L. picked a winner for the little necklace before she went to bed tonight : mirva, please get back to me, i need your address !

What a lovely way to spend a birthday, a getaway beneath blue sky. Darling stripes, and it fits her perfectly.
ReplyDeletethank you Denise. she finds it comfy and wants another one ;)
Deletei agree, it couldn't have been more complete : my family and some sun away from the routine. bliss.
I had no idea I was so close to England (Jersey island) when I was in St Malo, I've never been England...
ReplyDeletebeautiful captures as usual :)
it is 1h15 by ferry. maybe next time you'll go ? or you can hop on a plane from Dinard to London : Ryan Air 1h & cheap provided your dates fit in their schedule (school breaks are expensive) thank you. these were taken full sun early afternoon, I don't complain (we need sun so badly) but it doesn't give good pix.
DeleteThe weather looked perfect for a big celebration. Not only is L beautiful so is her shirt! Congrats to Mirva on winning your great necklace. xo
ReplyDeletethank you Joyce. yes after so much rain in April, a suuny wkd was a true gift ! fingers crossed it lasts a bit longer !
gros bisousssss
mais c'est une ado !! ;) 12 ans quoi !
Deletebon, NYC... ouaip... on échange ?!!!
DeleteSounds like you had a wonderful birthday! It's always good to have a break from it all, isn't it? The dress is so pretty, I wish I had one too! Thank you again for making my morning special! :)
ReplyDeletehi winner ;) I will reply your mail real soon & will send your necklace sometimes next week x
DeleteLove the stripey dress!
ReplyDeletethank you. it seems these past years you can't run away from stripes ! ;)
DeleteEnjoy the sunny days!
ReplyDeleteTo see the blues must be awesome for your eyes :D
3 daily diets sounds complicated for vacation at the hotel.
Your daughter has become a real teenager, how time goes by.
Do you celebrate Father's Day tomorrow?
Or do you have it in France on another day?
Love
that's why we never eat breakfast at French hotels, only the ones abroad that has big buffets. But it is still easier when we eat out, because each of us can have a different menu and I don't have to cook the 3 of them !!
DeleteI know time flies, she has grown so much this past year -- makes me feel so old sometimes ! no, Mother's day is usually late May & Father's Day is in June, here in France xo
Lovely dress, looks great on L, style and elegance !
ReplyDeleteThanks for sending us some blue sky via your pix, I'm in France at the moment, boy it's cold !!!!
Congrats to Mirva on winning the necklace !
Have a wonderful day !
Marilou
... and i'm going to "your place" next week! shame i can't even contact you... mind you, you certainly have much else to do ! xoxo
DeleteCurrently in the north of France, crossing the border tomorrow to go to Brugge and Antwerpen, quite a long ways to meet you ! Happy to hear from you via your blog, love your pix, always !
Deletetoo far ! have fun & ... start a blog or flickr please !!!

ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect birthday. The stripes are awesome and I love how she put together her outfit.
ReplyDeletesweet of you thank you xx i will pass on this compliment to her and i'm sure it will bring a big smile on her face !
DeleteJersey, ooh, lovely! Looks like it did the trick for you too :)
ReplyDeleteabsolutely ! anywhere sunny is a bkiss at the moment !
ReplyDeletevalerie, your flax started blooming in my garden.
