and for some reason or no reason, i decided to pay a visit to Joanne. i've been following Joanne's blog for almost 4 years now and we could even have met once, it was just not meant to be that time...
her blog page uploaded and it took only seconds for my day to change.i heard the paramedic team taking the grandfather who raised me out of his house, me holding L. still a baby, with a brainstroke diagnosis. i could see my husband, helpless, in the ambulance after a bleeding on his brain when we were newly weds.
i went through a whole range of emotions & tears as i read that on the morning on the 11th, Joanne's youngest daughter aged 9 & homeschooled had found her mom on the floor of their basement shaking violently (= having a major brainstroke)
although i didn't need the reminder, yes, life can change in a minute. scary.
and, fellow bloggers, i also had the confirmation that we may have not met people in person, but we can still care a lot. blogs may sometimes seem a little shallow, but some bonds are made through the years.
it could be any of us, but it is Joanne. tonight my thoughts go to this wonderful mama, who's fighting for her life after surgery with her 12 year old bravely holding her hand, to her family, and i'm praying for her recovery.
no link here for privacy, but i needed to write it black on white.

mhm. life is such a hard hitter at times.
ReplyDeletei don't know what to say, but do hope for the best.
I wish I knew, what to say to make things better, but sometimes words just aren't enough. I will keep her & her family in my prayers.
ReplyDeletejust wanted to say joanne and her family are in my prayers....
ReplyDeleteA heart and a prayer from me, to your friend and to you. Your last posts have been breathtakingly beautiful, and I loved your new year thoughts.
ReplyDeleteHow sad for your Joanne, her family and friends.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you x
Although our minutes are ours to do with them what we wish, wasting them is a crime. Not loving the ones we hold dear to our hearts every minute of the day, is an unforgivable crime. I am sure that Joanne is surrounded with love at this moment. My prayer for her is that she can feel that love and that it helps her to get through this very difficult time. Carolina
ReplyDeletelife can change in a minute....
ReplyDeletesending warm thoughts to Joanne and her family.
Very touching and caring... and you're so right about that, sometimes it's about minutes or even seconds... little things can change your life completely or turn it upside down. Hope she'll get better!!! Big hugs to you and best wishes to Joanne & her family too!
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to Joanne and her family... My heart goes out to who, Valerie, who also waits. This one life is so precious. We must celebrate it every day. We must give & show love all the time. ((LOVE & HUGS))
Elsa
may God get Joanie & her family through this difficult time ~ you are a very concerned & good friend to her
ReplyDeleteOh,how shocking! I'm out of words..but I send lot's of strenght and love to you and Joanne!!
ReplyDeleteI had only read her blog once or twice, but was very sad to hear the news through others. I do hope she is able to fight through it.
How sad :( I'm constantly in awe of how fragile life is, and how we march on with such fearlessness, and sometimes forget how it can change in seconds!
ReplyDeleteMany good thoughts for Joanne.
Love L's sweater! Gorgeous color, and she looks like a dream in it :)
Oh how terrible. You are so right, even though we don't sometimes meet people face to face, you still create bonds. So many people are now thinking of Joanne, and that's a good thing.
ReplyDeleteThis made me really sad! I hope Joanne is alright!!
ReplyDeleteI think one gets to know ones blog friends quite well. blogging has to a degree taken over from correspondance as it was common for thinkers, artist and others in the 'old' days. Many used to correspond without meeting... same here isnt it?
the jumper is gorgeous, L looks beautiful and well.
Happy New Year, hope it will be full of joy and good health and expansion!
xo
What an amazing sweater. I hope that this new year brings you so much loveliness !
ReplyDeleteJoanne and her family will be in my thoughts. I am so sorry to hear this news. xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, goodness. The poor things.
ReplyDeleteWe've had far too many reminders in recent years that life changes in an instant. My sister in law had several strokes while on the operating table, and while it has left her not the same as she was, she has since had another child and is much improved.
Oh boy. That is terrible news. I will lift up some prayers and hope for good news soon. The sweater is really lovely, Valerie. xo

ReplyDeleteJoanne is in artificial coma, they're starting to try & wake her up now... she slightly moved both legs, an arm, and her eyes this weekend. but it seems she may have infection (fever). i'm glad her family, especially her daughters get so much support in these painful & stressful days.
