before school starts we usually go on a little (tent) camping trip. in our household, we have a very bad habit to let go about schedules during the summer and it is hard for everyone to go to bed earlier/wake up and go back to the school routine. at least when you sleep in a tent, you have no choice but to get along with mother nature. this year we went again to the very western part of brittany, from where you can wave hello to our american friends on the east coast across the atlantic... one of our little day trips was spent in la torche, which has become a hot spot for surf.
not even on the beach yet, across the dunes, this sets the mood...
when you go down on the beach past the dunes, you are hit by the view of so many little black spots in the ocean. alien attack ? no ! surfers everywhere. in their black surfing outfit (we're not in hawaii here, you're so happy when the water reaches 18°C). la torche is not only a beach but also a different world. no overstatement here. surfers, surf school, surf shop, after surf snack place, people thinking surf & talking surf, girlfriends waiting for their surfing partner, kids barely walking are seen trying to surf...
this little girl was not older than 5 and so eager to go in the water again...

It is amazing how simple life pleasure bring to us! Love L's new glasses! She looks so pretty and rest from the trip!! It is cold cold..around low 30's in ND.. high 50's during the day! We are preparing our winter to arrived, but wishing the fall to stay a little longer!Last winter in ND hope goes smooth! xC
ReplyDeletethank you. i think yes a few days helped to rest and get ready for the routine. glasses are by CHLOE, only because our insurance was good on those (because a bit pricey otherwise) you have a long winter to face, i hope you did enjoy +++ your summer and stocked on vitD !
DeleteI love your tradition of tent camping just before school starts...once it does, wow does life ever change!! as always, your pictures reflect such beauty.
ReplyDeletethanks Denise ! yes during the school time, everything flies like we don't get a grip of anything... besides there's no school bus service to the middle school (i think you don't either ?) where L. goes so I seem to always be on the road !
Deletebeautiful photos of a place that seems so familiar to me. Your dunes look like our dunes, just down the road. Hello from across the ocean :) I love what you said about camping and getting along with mother nature. It is such a nice rhythm she provides, and I can't think of a better way to end the summer, and transition into a new schedule.
ReplyDeletehello Abby. yes I think your live even closer to the ocean than we do. lucky you. every year we NEED this : there's nothing like being outdoors and living natural cycles, to feel whole and rejuvenated, a little more ready to face life's spinning !
DeleteSuch lovely moments in your pictures!
ReplyDeletekiitos dear Maria we had a nice quiet time :)
DeleteFunny you wouldn't think surfing and France in the same thought, yet there they are making the most of the waves and enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice getaway. I live so close to the Pacific, but haven't been to the beach in literally years! How sad is that? I think I need to remedy this situation soon.
We even took a trip up to the north coast, and didn't venture out to the water. It is always bitterly cold, and extremely windy up there, so we decided not to venture out to the water this time. Love all the smells though from the ocean :)
But i'm sure this is because you're busy visiting some other nice places ! it is true the Pacific where you are can be very cold (have tested myself !)
DeleteYay, I can comment! So rarely does the comment button show up on your blog for me, I don't know why… Anyway, hope camping was lovely and a new school year starts well!!! Best wishes,

DeleteDear Valerie,
ReplyDeleteThe sight of your photos I feel longing and the need of vacation (hehe) and miss it so much (no vacation the last 7 years, ups). Especially the ocean I miss so much, even if it would be cool I wont mind :-D ... I guess to camp at this period of time must be chilly, or? The beach doesn't look crowded, how great! Your daughter looks so pretty, yes she looks older than 13. Hahaha, soon the time of "love", first boy-friend will start, butterflies, rainbows and co. (hehe) ;-P
Well, was your comment function previously issued? Because I also couldn't see a comment button here?
Hope you are doing fine? love, mel
